Have you ever had a gut feeling that if you went to this one particular party, even though you were tired and grumpy, something good was going to happen to you? Or have you ever just known that if you walked down a certain street, something bad would happen?
This is your intuition guiding you. And your intuition is provided by the Light.
According to Kabbalah, there is a curtain separating the physical world (1% realm) from the spiritual world (99% realm.) This curtain is all that keeps us from total fulfillment.
Intuition is one means of pulling aside the curtain.
Familiarize yourself today with that feeling in your gut, with first thoughts that pop into your mind. Trust your initial instinct. With each step you take towards listening to your intuition, you will draw that curtain open further.
As soon as I became a member of this community, I took a look at my friends page and was bombarded with over 40 pages of entries from this community alone! MADNESS!
In other news, I had to take Sherbet to the vet yesterday because he wasn't peeing. They kept him most of the day (I was in a seminar at work) and he still didn't pee, so they "squeezed" the urine out of him (I guess you can do that with cats) and sent a urine sample to the lab. He's much calmer now, not meowing as much. Before, he kept coming up to me and meowing like he was trying to tell me something. I finally gave in and honored my kitty intuition. So, good cat vibes, s'il vous plait.
I was out dancing tonight, hopefully I wasn't doing the Giant Toddler Dance or even the Wounded Turkey, but as such, this post is a little late. Also, it is a cut and paste of yesterday.
Welcome welcome welcome everyone! It is an exciting time to be here at the MST3k LJ community. There are enough of us now to take over a county fair, then we can take over the state's fair, then the world's fair, then the universe's fair! I mean, well, its awfuly nice to see so many more MSTies out there in LJ land. We have had a glut of posts that all seem to cover the same things. These are things like:
What's your favorite episode?
What's the first episode you saw?
What's the episode you just can't get through?
When does MST come up in everyday life?
What's the best episode to indoctrinate someone with?
If you want to know and express these things, scroll through the community and comment there. That will make the posts more robust and people more likely to hear about your experience. And now, here are the posting rules.
Some Posting Advice
We know that The Island was a re-make of parts: the clonus horror
The crew is riffing on far more popular movies these days, and sometimes even good movies. To find out more, search the internets on RiffTrax and Cinematic Titanic, then search LJ for their respective communities. Check out MST3k.com while you're at it.
A lot of episodes are on YouTube, pretty much all of them are available via DAPcentral and MySpleen. DVDs were available from Rhino, now from Shout Factory.
We love Mike and Joel, Trace and Bill's Crows, all of the Mads, CC and SciFi episodes, and yes, even both Servos, so please, no "which is better?" posts.
Google is your friend! [along with other search engines] Before posting a question about an episode, character, season, etc, type mst3k and with the information your remember into a search box. If you do some research and still can't answer the question - or even if you can and think your findings are interesting - then go ahead and post it here
Off-topic posts are anything that does not reference MST3k, specifically. Examples of posts that fit this rule, but are still somewhat off-topic include:
Movies that should have been MST'ed
Bad movies or media in general
Long posts about your own projects involving movie riffing outside of an LJ-cut tag
These posts aren't forbidden by any means. If you will be posting things like this, use the lj-cut tag if the post is longer than a few sentences [one paragraph] and indicate that you do understand that your post isn't totally on-topic.
Most of us know about the book (The Amazing Colossal Episode Guide, written after season 6), even though I (funkychipmunk) forget about it a lot.
Hey-o! This is a momentous moment: my first post! Hopefully it shall not be the last.
Of course I adore this show; none of us would be here if we didn't devour these works of art/pop culture genius with insatiable glee. I feel a little lacking, though. For though I've been a fan of this show since 1999, when I saw my first MST -- "The Screaming Skull" -- I am woefully uneducated on the Joel/Comedy Central years.
Would anyone like to recommend a few stellars for me to Google/Youtube? "Leech Woman" and "Mitchell" are already tops of the list, but I'd love to hear what my fellow MSTies think is A+ viewing.
Oh, and if I have to pick a favorite episode, it'll have to be "The Final Sacrifice". Canada bashing + a hero named Zapp Rowsdower + Garth Vader = PRICELESS.
P.S.: Could I also get some recs for quality MST icons? THANKS!
The one thing I regret more then anything? I couldn't get my free tickets to Comic Con this year. Patton Oswalt on the MST3K panel. *sigh* But, you know, being that I am a local I could have just paid for tickets (sold out) or GONE (working that day.) so here's hoping someone tapes it and puts it on YouTube. Here's hoping he references it in the CoC show later that night. That I could get tickets to see.
Anywhoo...
Firstly, it's been several days of ICON LOVE. There are kindred spirits here.
And secondly, there is nothing better the Grandfather Frost. I mean yes, Manos and Space Mutiny have a place in my heart. But none of them imprint on geese.
A slight matter of history . . or would that be a brush with destiny (sheesh..I hope that comes out)
OKAY.. so make all the jokes you want about how people in the movie 'Fargo' speak.. it's NOT how the majority of us MINNESOTANS talk.. atleast not down here in the civilized 'Twin Cities' fer shure
That said.. I.. am from Minnesota . . have been almost all of my life, and I had a rather ODD situation going on here in Minneapolis for a period of time back in the late 1980's --------- (Let me put this into perspective).. A few weeks back I was sifting through boxes I had moved into my latest apartment, purging stuff I no longer need .. and I came across an old phone number and address book.. from about 1988-89. looking through the pages brought back MANY fond memories of my days in the late 1980's when I worked at a local establishment..and they granted me the ability to showcase some local talent. I have been VERY blessed to be around when Magick happens.. and this is one shining example
( more about ) ---------------- looking back COLOR ME 'EMBARRASSED'.. and now.. 'HAPPY' to say.. I didn't realize till late in the run of the comedy shop.. that I had the BEST group of comedians this state had probably EVER seen as an ensemble.. and that may also spill over to one of the best casts of a comedy show.. in the country.. no...World __nay__UNIVERSE ! !
I still have my original tapes somewhere around here from when they were showing their stuff on local tv stations..(KTMA-TV channel #23 -- local UHF) and they would have my friend Michael Todd be a guest host on the station once in awhile for filling in between regular afternoon movies.. and also for introducing shows such as this, and Michael was also the local "Host" of the yearly Halloween Night showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show for over 10 years at the UPTOWN theatre. (GAWD I miss those days..lol) I used to help co-write some of HIS stuff for his little dog and pony show.. and he was the one who first introduced me to these great folks. (Unfortunately for ALL OF US.. "Carrot Top" stole Michael's act and RUINED IT !)
Since we Are talking about MST3k.. here's a little (live version) tune for 'the crew' ...
-------------- I hope you folks who get to visit Comic-Con have a GREAT time and if you get a chance... ask some of the 'kids' if they remember working a comedy shop in Minneapolis at "The 90's" back in the late 1980's
onward and upward! Richard/BEAR
P.S. I haven't posted much here on LJ over the months I've been around so if my "behind the cuts" don't work right.. please forgive?! So as I was saying.. I've been on LJ for several months now.. and I never knew this group existed until the focus on other activity put it in front of me.. Thanks to you folks for being here and "keeping the 'tapes' circulating"..( now available on YouTube and I have seen some on DVD) and BIG THANKS to LJ for hosting such a GREAT and diverse forum..
haha hey guys does anybody know the episode where the guys keep making fun of canada??? i know they do it a lot but this one in particular had a shitload of canadia jokes and i remember the movie had something to do with a guy and the outdoors.... last time i saw it was years and years ago but i remember it was so fucking hilarious.... i want to experience it again
“Well I pulled something in my back Wednesday night. I got home from work and I was already really hurting for some reason over the past few months I've been having a lot of problems with my back and my legs. As far as standing up and walking around a lot it is causing me a lot of discomfort and I'm not really sure what the problem is. I know I've put on weight and it took a lot of pressure on my back so then that is part of the problem but I haven't put on that much weight to when it should be uncomfortable all the time. So I'm trying to see if I can get an appointment to go see a doctor and see why I hurt all over all of the time. Even when I'm not working or doing anything. But anyway I was on the floor with Mason because he asked to take a ride on my back, so I was crawling on the floor and he was on my back. I twisted myself to get him off cause I felt my back starting to cramp up and all of a sudden I felt this shooting pain on the left side of my lower back and it's been progressively feeling worse over the past couple of days cause I don't think swimming yesterday and like laps in the pool really helps. And I sat in that uncomfortable we need to get a chair for 2 hours watching the movie last night so when I got up today I was really really hurting and I've been kinda trying to get some rest and lounging around as much as I can today and try and do a little wondering stuff too but I just don't feel like doing anything. I really just want to sleep. Just sitting around talking on line to people. And winding down and dealing with a Cranky child he throwing a fit because he wants to watch the same Tigger movie so I guess I better end this now anyway's I hope you guys are having a good night bye.”
Just a few words for you Shirt Club subscribers and enthusiasts, since I've been getting a lot of questions about it here in the comments section...
Though Shirt Club has been running extremely smoothly--especially considering the haste with which we established it and the unbelievable volume of orders we've received--we have experienced some unexpected and unavoidable production delays with some of the shirts, leaving some of you shirtless, baffled and maybe even a little hurt.
For instance, we actually blew out American Apparel's entire nation-wide stock of eggplant ringer tees with our Billy Quizboy T-Shirt. So, while most of those orders shipped, some of you won't receive yours until American Apparel makes more and gets them to us, which we're told will be this week.
The Rusty's Day Camp shirts experienced a slightly different problem: American Apparel shipped us nine boxes of navy t-shirts with white rings instead of our full order of white t-shirts with navy rings. So we had to delay the print job on that shirt, and we'll be starting it next week.
A very small percentage of the Sgt. Hatred t-shirts were printed with misaligned logos, so rather than send crooked designs to people, we're having some of them re-printed.
Lastly, a tiny minority of you loyal Subscribers are still waiting on your Brock Samson Kodokan Blood Judo bonus shirts. Again, this is because American Apparel didn't have quite enough of them in stock at the time we ordered them.
And so, we humbly apologize to all of you affected by these shortages and delays. We appreciate your patience, we haven't forgotten about you, and we fully intend to honor each and every order just as soon as supplies become available.
Hopefully this post answers most of your questions, but in the future, the best place for you to direct any Shirt Club-related correspondence is vbshirtclub@gmail.com. But please...DO NOT email us at that address unless you're a Shirt Club customer with a legitimate Shirt Club issue! It is not a mailbox for fan mail, complaints about the show, or requests for internships, interviews or answers to your burning questions about Dr. Girlfriend's gender!
...but enough about business...
While you wait for your Shirt Club shirts to arrive (and by the way, you are soooo gonna want this Sunday's offering!), why not while away the hours enjoying our latest episode? The delightful, Doc Hammer-penned "Tears Of A Sea Cow" (formerly "Murder O'Clock"), is already available for online viewing at adultswim.com...
We Love You,
JP
P.S. Some of you out there have found a way, intentional or not, to coax a full subscription order out of PayPal. Don't even try it! Your money will be returned immediately and the order will not be honored! Subscriptions were only available for a limited time for the specific reason that we do not make a habit of over-printing these intentionally ultra-limited-edition t-shirts. So we cannot honor orders for expired shirts because there simply aren't any extras.
P.P.S. Don't be suckered by eBay offers on official Shirt Club shirts. I've seen the same seller hawking ten copies of the same shirt in like four different sizes, and no individual ever ordered that many of any of them. Not saying for sure they're fake, but it's pretty damn likely. And come on...no shirt is worth $75. Okay, maybe that sleeveless New York t-shirt that John Lennon actually wore, but that's about it.
I've been doing this thing where I try new things and right now my new thing is trying out different beers. Not a lot of beer, like one six pack every two weeks, which is all I can get through.
So far all I've learned is that I'm really terrible at choosing beer.
Just got back from The Dark Knight. Wow! Positively Scorsese-esque in its scope, and a terrific swan song performance from Heath Ledger. I hadn't realized that he was, you know, an *actor*, and not just a pretty boy. And I'm happy that Aaron Eckhart is starting to get some attention. I've been a fan since In the Company of Men and Your Friends and Neighbors. Chuck, I bet even picky old YOU would like it.
Speaking of Chuck: I kicked ass at work today, flinging projects out the door like hash browns at the Waffle House. I have two days to bask in my sense of accomplishment before my workplace retaliates and dumps 60 more super-urgent projects on my desk.
